Weddings
There are many beautiful spots on Fiji and Aitutaki suitable for a romantic wedding and most resorts will assist with the wedding arrangements. Get married on one of Fiji's lovely beaches, the botanical gardens, an uninhabited island, or a local church.
You may like to dress in Polynesian 'island' style - with grass skirts, head bands and bare feet - or perhaps a local pareu (sarong) and Polynesian shirt. Ask your hotel or resort about the different options. They will usually be able to arrange flowers, cake, traditional dancing and celebratory feast, flowers and even a video to take home so that you may relive this treasured experience. Your hosts will also be able to advise on what documents you need to bring from home, but basically the following Fiji legal requirements are :
All people wishing to get married must be 21 years of age or to have written consent from their parents.
Applicants for a wedding licence must produce a passport and, if divorced, a copy of the Decree Nisi.
You cannot apply for a licence outside the Fiji.
Application for a marriage licence must be made in person to the Registrar of Marriages at least three working days before the wedding.
